The Hackathon in a nutshell

The Integrate Everything with IOTA Hackathon is looking for the best IoT Developers out there.

IOTA is an open-source, feeless, and scalable distributed ledger technology, designed to support frictionless data and value transfer in the IoT realm.

IOT2TANGLE is an open-source project integrating IoT devices with the IOTA Protocol via its Data layer, called Streams.

The Hackathon is directed to IoT developers willing to build valuable IoT projects and integrate them with this distributed protocol using our open-source integration mechanism.

Devs can participate individually or on teams with no more than 3 members. Teams will need to have a single speaker that will lead the project and communicate the teamwork.

We are expecting to see submissions related to Smart Cities, Smart Agriculture, Supply Chain Tracking, E-Health and Environmental Control.

Frequently asked questions

Can I participate if I don't have experience with IOTA?

Sure! We made the IOTA integration very easy for you so you should not expect any problems sending your sensor's data to the Tangle. You can find a few examples of integrations in the I2T Hub

Contestants can use any type of IoT device except for Arduino boards (projects that carry Atmel microcontrollers such as ATmega 8, 128, 328 will not be accepted due to their obvious link with the Arduino platform). We are looking for projects which the community can further build upon and which can be readily used in production environments.

All integrations must be submitted as open-source under the Apache 2.0 License. The Top 5 projects will receive exciting prizes. The Top 10 projects will be included in the I2T Hub and will be made available to the open-source community.

IOTA is a cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin. You can download the Trinity wallet to get your prize or open an account on one of the Exchanges that list IOTA (Bitfinex, Binance, etc)

We allow teams with a maximum of 3 members. If you participate with a team you will need to have a dedicated representative. Keep in mind that the prizes are awarded per project so, if your team wins, the team as a whole will get the same prize that an individual would.
